Yesterday was our anniveristy, so my husband decided to book a night in the Swan Valley (WA) to celebrate.

We left home Saturday morning and came home Sunday, just a short trip, but it was nice to get away from home and do something different.

Accomodation

The B & B we stayed at was Kellers - this is their website - http://www.kellers.bedandbreakfast.com.au/home.html

They offer a gluten free breakfast option, which I was a bit nervous about, as I have Coeliac Disease and many places these days offer gluten free without understanding how sick you can make someone with Coeliac Disease.

After talking to Marija yesterday, I needn't have worried, she was so lovely and helpful and keen to work out exatly what I could and couldn't eat and provide breakfast for me without making me sick.

Breakfast at Kellers B & B

This was our amazing breakfast at Kellers B&B this morning; separate gluten free muesli for me, she has Schar gluten free bread, separate scrambled eggs with no dairy for me, and almond milk for my muesli. The milk is from their own cows, and there was fresh orange and apple juice they make themselves too. The Yoghurt and preserves are home made too. The bread you can see is also homemade, it's not gluten free but if you a travelling with somesome who can eat regular bread, they won't be dissapointed. Michael ate all 5 slices. There was also home made goats cheese to try.

One of the beautiful pet cows that the Kellers have in their paddock.

Saturday Lunch

Saturday we stopped for lunch at Taylors Art and Coffe house - http://www.taylorscafe.com.au/

I ordered the steak and beetroot salad with no feta as I am also dairy intolerant. There were quite a few gluten free options, lots of cakes that looked yummy too. We were very impressed and will defintely go back again.

Gluten Free Steak and Beetroot Salad

Sight Seeing

Next we stopped in at Moreish Nuts - http://www.morish.com.au/ & Mondo Nougat -http://www.mondonougat.com.au/

Lot of gluten free options at both places.

I took photo's of some of the options at Mondo Nougat

Gluten Free Almond Biscuits

We bought some of these to bring home for afternoon tea on Sunday, there delicious.

Chocolate Covered Nougat

This chocolate covered Nougat looked so good.

Gluten Free Slices/Cakes

Sometimes being dairy intolerant on top of having Coeliac Disease makes me want to cry, that nougat topped cheesecake looked so good. I think I'm pretty lucky though, it could be so much worse.

We went for a drive in the late afternoon, as saw these local Kangaroos coming out to eat. Kangaroos normally come out at dawn and dusk.

Dinner Time

We booked at Elmars in the Valley for dinner - http://www.elmars.com.au/ - They have lots of gluten free and even nut free options. They had a dairy free option too but when I ordered it they came back and said it had feta in it so I had to choose something else. I ordered one of the mixed plates. The waiter was lovely and gave me 2 chilli sauces to replace the sour cream. The service was good, and the best part of the evening was the live music. A sign out the front said the musician was Ben Merrit. He was playing lovely covers.

This was my dinner, $40 for meat and chips and some salad.

This was Michael's meal, also $40.

There were a few other places that serve gluten free food that were recommended to us, including:

Margaret River Chocolate Factory

Swan Valley Cafe

Mandoon Estate

Chapel Farm

There are other places too but I know from being there before they are not Coeliac Friendly, they don't cook the gf food separatley.
